EMN for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine has 1st meeting with Stakeholders
19 - 21 June 2019 in PTB, Braunschweig
The European Metrology Network for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine has its first meeting with participating stakeholders
From 19 to 21 June, the European Metrology Network (EMN) for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (TraceLabMed) was launched at PTB in Braunschweig, Germany. The main objective of the network is to provide a coordinated and serviceoriented European metrology infrastructure to improve the reliability of measurement results for in-vitro diagnostics (IVDs) (find out more). In order to achieve that goal, engagement with EQA providers, international organisations and industry is vital. And that's why it's particularly encouraging that many important representatives of these groups were actively involved in this kick-off event.
At the meeting, Rainer Stosch (PTB) was elected as the Chair of the EMN. He is supported by Vincent Delatour (LNE) as Vice-Chair and David Auerbach (PTB) as Secretary. EURAMET congratulates Rainer, Vincent and David on their elections and wishes them all the best for their new roles.
Rainer points out, “I am very confident that with this team and with the support of all members in the network, we will quickly make progress in establishing a successful European metrology infrastructure in our field. It was very important for us to involve stakeholders right from the start. Only with them on board can our goal of achieving equivalence and traceability in laboratory medicine be realised.”
A key objective of the metrology network is to support IVD manufacturers to implement the EU Regulation 2017/746 (IVDR). Moving forward, the network will engage intensively with the IVD manufacturers and discuss with them how to implement the legally required metrological traceability of IVDs.
