EMN collaborates with International Commission on Radiological Protection and others

Collaboration and engagement are at the heart of EMN Radiation Protection’s mission.

Over the past year, the network has deepened cooperation with several key international organisations and initiatives.

The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP)

  • Participation in ICRP meetings: EMN Radiation Protection actively contributed to the annual meeting of Senior Representatives of Organisations in Formal Relations with ICRP, exchanging insights on radiation protection metrology, regulatory requirements, and emerging challenges.
  • ICRP contributions to EMN Radiation Protection: ICRP experts provided guidance and perspectives at EMN Radiation Protection’s Annual General Meeting, supporting alignment with global radiological protection principles.

Vancouver Call for Action & Stakeholder Liaison Organisation’s Position Paper

  • The Vancouver Call for Action, led by ICRP, aims to improve global radiation protection policies, raise awareness, and foster stronger international cooperation. EMN Radiation Protection actively supports this initiative.
  • The Stakeholder Liaison Organisation Position Paper, linked to the Vancouver Call for Action, outlines priorities and collaborative approaches for enhancing radiation protection strategies. EMN Radiation Protection’s endorsement demonstrates its commitment to advancing metrological capabilities in alignment with international goals.

EMN interaction with other EU Calls: Euratom

‘Nuclear observations to improve Climate research and GHG emission estimates’ (NuClim), a European Union in Horizon-EURATOM project, is using the outcomes achieved by the EMPIR project ‘Radon metrology for use in climate change observation and radiation protection at the environmental level’ (traceRadon).

These collaborations strengthen the scientific basis of radiation protection, align European activities with global standards, and ensure effective dissemination of research outputs. They also open opportunities for joint projects, knowledge transfer, and stakeholder engagement.
