Closer co-operation with ETSI
“We are delighted that EURAMET now has an official partnership with all three European Standardisation bodies” said Dr Kamal Hossain, EURAMET Chairperson about the newly established formal arrangement for co-operation between EURAMET and ETSI. The proposal regarding the agreement was recently approved by the ETSI Board and signed by the EURAMET Chairperson.
ETSI is the European Telecommunications Standards Institute and is officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization. It produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), including fixed, mobile, radio, converged, broadcast and internet technologies. ETSI is a not-for-profit organization with more than 750 ETSI member organizations drawn from 63 countries across 5 continents worldwide.
The co-operation between ETSI and EURAMET already existed in areas like the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) and standardisation. The new agreement enables the two organisations to work as formal partners on a broader front. Details of the future co-operation will now be discussed.
