Advanced Training on Measurement Uncertainty held at IMBIH

The Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina was a host of an Advanced Training on Measurement Uncertainty which was held from 11th – 13th of January 2012, in Sarajevo.

The participants of this training were representatives of Southeastern European Metrology Institutes:

  • Metrology Bureau of Macedonia (BJR)
  • Metrology Bureau of Montenegro (MBM)
  • General Directorate of Metrology of Albania (DPM)
  • Institute of Metrology of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IMBIH)

The training was held in cooperation with the National Metrology Institute from Germany (PTB) and was attended by 20 participants.

Mr Janez Setina, expert in the field of pressure and head of the Laboratory for pressure of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (MIRS), held a training titled “Estimation of Uncertainty at Calibration of a Pressure Balance”.

Mr Michael Matus, expert in the field of dimensional metrology, time and frequency and head of the Laboratory for dimensional metrology, time and frequency of the Metrology Institute of the Republic of Austria (BEV) held a training titled “Estimation of Uncertainty at calibration of Iodine-Stabilised Laser wavelength of 633 nm” and a training titled “Key Comparison Evaluation by Cox Method”.

This project will significantly contribute to the development of metrology in the region and the ability of the laboratories that are part of an NMI (National Metrology Institute) to properly express their measurement results with measurement uncertainty and to ensure traceability to other NMIs that have proven their calibration abilities.

The advanced training on measurement uncertainty, organized by IMBIH was assessed as positive and successful by the participants.
