Survey on stakeholder requirements to meet the metrology needs of the measurement science community in food safety and sustainability

The European Metrology Network (EMN) for Safe and Sustainable Food aims to foster collaboration and coordination in the measurement science community to meet metrology needs along the food chain, working alongside the European Union’s Farm to Fork Strategy. Through the EMN, European National Metrology Institutes and Designated Institutes will support the measurement needs of key stakeholders to ensure the provision of safe food, protect the environment and ensure sustainability.

This survey is designed to understand and identify priority areas for future measurement support in the field of food safety and sustainability. These may be in the development of analytical methods to identify challenging analytes, interlaboratory studies to demonstrate comparability, provision of calibration materials and certified reference materials to improve standardisation, or training, but always with a focus on metrological traceability.

We would be grateful for your views on the areas in most need of support and ask for a few minutes of your time to complete the survey questions below. Please feel free to add more details to your responses using the free text boxes in each section, as this will help to ensure our activities are suitably targeted.

If you have any questions, please contact: Food@euramet.org

The deadline for completing the survey is 30 September 2023.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.

Data collected in this survey will inform the members of the European Metrology Network for Safe and Sustainable Food about gaps in support for metrology in the areas of new and emerging analysis, analytical tools and training activities related to food safety and food sustainability in Europe.
The information will be used by the EMN to establish and support a focussed knowledge sharing programme managed by the European National Metrology Institutes and Designated Institutes.
The full data will be processed by the National Measurement Laboratory (NML) at LGC (UK), which is the EMN member institute in charge of conducting the survey and its subsequent analysis. Data without personal information will be shared with other EMN members for the purposes described above. Personal data will not be used for other purposes and will be deleted.
