Strategic Agenda
Our Vision
To enable stakeholders in food production and control throughout Europe to access the measurement tools required to meet food safety-related challenges.
Our Mission
To establish the world's leading metrology network by bringing together experts in measurement science to drive innovation, providing measurements required by the official food control and food industry in Europe.
Measures of success
Our strategy focuses on four key areas that provide us with the greatest opportunities for successful impact:
- Becoming the preferred research partner for food measurement reliability by understanding the needs of our stakeholders in food control, industry, and academia and continuing our strategic research agenda on food safety measurements by promoting a long-term dialogue.
- Providing access to an extensive portfolio of coordinated national metrology capabilities by partnering with National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) to solve challenges jointly defined with our stakeholders.
- Facilitating research to improve food-related measurement capabilities of European metrology Institutes (NMIs/DIs) to meet emerging stakeholder needs and develop future services.
- Enhancing our knowledge uptake and results by constructing a knowledge centre for food-related metrology.
Implementation
We implement our strategy by coordinating national and European actions that will enable European stakeholders to succeed through improved reliability of food-related measurements.
Joint research on metrology for food safety and sustainability: realisation of measurement methods and facilities, certified references materials, as well as support to standardisation.
Coordination of national metrology institutes: By utilising the resources of European NMIs and DIs, the EMN provides measurement traceability and fit-for-purpose services. The EMN-Food coordinates the development of new certified reference materials and dedicated services to meet rapidly growing needs.
