Biological & Microbiological parameters
Biological and microbiological pollutants are substances that are - or come from - living organisms and can affect environmental compartments and human health. Biological pollution can result from anthropogenic activities and can lead to habitat degradation, the spread of pathogens and parasites, biodiversity changes such as the loss of vegetal and animal species and the introduction of new ones.
Examples of biological pollution can be pollen, insects, fungi, some bacteria and viruses.
