Successful WELMEC Webinar Introduces the New Software Guides

On 14 September 2026, WELMEC successfully held its webinar dedicated to the new WELMEC Software Guides, bringing together participants interested in the latest developments in software examination for measuring instruments.

The webinar provided an introduction to the new structure and concepts of the WELMEC Software Guides, including the risk-based software examination approach developed by WELMEC Working Group 7. Participants were guided through the key concepts of assets, security properties, acceptable solutions and risk assessment, as well as the relationship between the different guides.

The programme included presentations by Marko Esche (PTB), Jeroen Rommerts (RDI) and Martin Nischwitz (PTB), covering the overall concept and structure of the new guides, an accessible introduction for users less familiar with software examination, and a practical demonstration of how the new approach and the Software Examination Template can be applied to a measuring instrument.

The presentations were followed by an active Q&A and discussion session, giving participants the opportunity to raise questions on the practical implementation of the new guides and related topics.

WELMEC would like to thank the speakers for sharing their expertise and all participants for their attendance, questions and active contribution to the discussion.
