The technical committee for flow (TC-Flow) is concerned with the issues which are important to industry, regulation and trade involving the measurement of fluid quantity and related measurements derived from it (e.g. energy). The measurement of fluid quantities focuses on the measures of water, hydrocarbon liquids, air and natural gas but also includes all other fluids and mixtures of fluids. The measurements of related quantities such as density, viscosity and calorific value also fall within the area of interest as they are parameters necessary to either define the quantity measurement or combine with it to provide the required measurement quantity.

The primary areas of interest are:

  • Measurement and definition of static volume
  • Measurement of quantities of water
  • Measurement of quantities of hydrocarbon liquids
  • Measurement of quantities of high pressure gas
  • Measurement of quantities of low pressure gas
  • Air (Wind) and water velocity
  • Measurement at Micro and Nano scale
  • Properties of fluids
