The peer review of the QMS of the IAEA Dosimetry Laboratory

Project Description

All the NMIs and DIs participating in the CIPM MRA must operate a Quality Management System (QMS) to support their calibration activities. In this project the QMS of IAEA Dosimetry Laboratory (DOL) will be peer reviewed. Regular peer reviews will be carried out by an on-site visit of metrological experts in Ionising Radiation coming from the LNHB, France, BEV, Austria, STUK, Finland. The reviews will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in the standard of ISO/IEC 17025 and the dosimetry calibration and audit services of the IAEA Dosimetry Laboratory, in particular these services included in the CMC tables of the IAEA as they appear in KCDB. This project will support the development, improvement and evaluation of QMS processes and procedures.

Funding is made available by the IAEA to conduct this activity.

Final Report 2013-02-15

The Quality Management System (QMS) of the IAEA Dosimetry Laboratory (DOL) was peer reviewed by F. Delaunay (LNHB, France), A. Kossunen (STUK, Finland) and R. Edelmaier (BEV, Austria) between 8-10 February 2012. This was a periodical review to verify that the calibration and auditing services offered by DOL comply with requirements of its documented procedures and the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Standard. The peer review findings were documented in a report issued on 16 March 2012. The actions initiated in response to the recommendations from the peer review were implemented during the summer 2012 and they were followed up in an internal audit conducted on 24, 29 and 30 October 2012 where the actions taken were found to be adequate. The peer review was very useful and actions initiated from recommendations made in the report have contributed to the continual improvement of our services to our customers.
