Metrology - in short

"Metrology - in short" is a booklet describing the European and international metrological infrastructure - the technical and organisational structures behind legal, industrial and scientific metrology.

The basis is a Danish booklet "Metrology - in short (translated from Danish)" on 48 pages which was funded by the Danish Ministry of Trade and Industry. The booklet was distributed in 2500 copies.

The target groups are users of metrology in the industry, at the authorities, on educational and research institutions. Users of metrology should be understood in broad terms and are not only specialists.

Objectives:

- to increase the awareness of metrology,
- to establish a common metrological frame of reference in Europe,
- to enforce the efforts of East European countries to adapt to the EU metrological infrastructure,
- to provide a practical and easy-to-use tool for people working with metrology.

1. Determination of the structure and content of the booklet.
2. Translation of the existing Danish booklet, or parts hereof, which should be used in the European edition.
3. Writing the text, including rewriting of the translated Danish contributions.
