Comparison of specific total loss and specific apparent power measurement using Epstein, Single-Sheet-Tester and ring method

Project Description

The specific total power loss is the most important quantity characterizing the magnetic properties of electrical sheet steel. On the other hand, this material is of economic significance because its properties have a decisive influence on the efficiency of all electrical energy generation and transformation. The determination of the power loss is difficult and often shows relatively high measurements between metrological institutes. The measurements will be based on standardised methods (IEC 60404-2) and will be made under standard conditions on a number of grades of gain-oriented electrical sheet steel, four samples of each grade, provided by a European manufacturer.
