Six guides for radio frequency and microwave measurements now available

EMPIR project develops best practice guides
The Project
The EMPIR Research Potential Project Development of RF and microwave metrology capability (15RPT01, RFMicrowave) ran from 2015 to 2019 with the aim of extending measurement capability in power measurements across Europe.
Research Potential Projects are a special kind of EURAMET Capacity Building project, supporting participating organisations to develop basic levels of metrological research expertise, in particular measurement research areas considered to be of national and regional priority.
With the help of the National Metrology institute of Switzerland, METAS, other European measurement institutes developed their skills in making the precise microwave measurements and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) required for an integrated approach across Europe.
Six best practice guides available
Six best practice guides were developed in the project, and are now freely available for download from the project website. These guides will be especially useful for emerging national metrology institutes, accredited calibration laboratories and EMC test laboratories.
- Calibration of power sensors for low-power measurement
- Measurement of high power
- Low-power measurement using diode type power sensors in the presence of higher harmonics
- Best method for the calibration of pulse generators
- Just-before-test VNA verification method for EMC emissions conducted tests
- Traceable loop antenna calibration methods using a VNA
This EMPIR project is co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the EMPIR Participating States.
