Atomic clock developed as part of EMRP project (IND55 Mclocks) to be made ready for open market by the European Space Agency

A compact atomic clock based on pulsed optical pumping (POP) technology was developed within EMRP project Compact and high-performing microwave clocks for industrial applications. A proposal was made to the European Space Agency (ESA) and accepted for further development under the General Support Technology Programme (GSTP).

ESA's GSTP aims to convert promising engineering concepts into a broad spectrum of mature products – everything from individual components to subsystems up to complete satellites – right up to the brink of spaceflight or beyond. The industrial implementation will be executed by project collaborator Selex-ES (Italy).
