Miruna, congratulations to your election! What are you looking forward to in your term?

First and foremost, I intend to help implement the EURAMET 2030 Strategy with a focus on supporting members to meet their national requirements through collaboration in research and capacity building. This will pave the way for an integrated and sustainable European metrology.

In addition, a fresh impetus to the communication work carried on by the secretariat would positively impact the process of informing and consulting the community. I am convinced that internally oriented information - for example TC newsletters and regular organisation updates - will be highly appreciated by our members and associates. In that sense, I salute the recent decision to disseminate the outcomes of the BoD meetings to all national delegates through subsequent online sessions in conversation with the BoD.

Which tasks are on top of your priority list and why?

As Vice-Chairperson (GA), my priority is the Capacity Building and all connected needs and deployed actions within EURAMET. A particular challenge is related to supporting members in achieving a harmonised digital transformation of metrological services in order to become ready to address the specific demands of the stakeholders.

Especially, I would like to continue the efforts carried out over the past four years as Chair of EURAMET's Technical Committee (TC) for Interdisciplinary Metrology in coordinating actions to meet the digital challenges of our constantly changing era, by encouraging every National Metrology Institute (NMI) and Designated Institute (DI) to contribute to the edification of the European digital quality infrastructure. Individual skills being crucial in this domain, small organisations may very well deliver an impact comparable to larger and more resourceful institutes.

Where does EURAMET have a latent potential which you would like to encourage?

Being one of the 4 pillars of the European quality infrastructure, EURAMET needs to respond to regulatory and standardisation challenges. In the next years I would like to support the promotion of a coordinated offer of metrological services, where European Metrology Networks identify global development needs while NMIs and DIs bring their specific national priorities.

Where do you foresee challenges arising on the EURAMET pathway during the coming years?

For all TCs and in particular the TC for Quality to support the implementation of the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement in a smooth process and within a reasonable delay. Regarding the process of Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMCs) submission and revision, progress was made in latest years through re-thinking the classification and the implementation of the new BIPM Key Comparison Database. A similar process should be fulfilled for key comparisons.

EURAMET, the Regional Metrology Organisation with the largest and continuously increasing number of members, should take the initiative to propose innovative ways to achieve mutual trust. Possible alternative approaches, such as the networks of bilateral comparisons, are under elaboration in the framework of TC-IM project 1561.

Which message would you like to convey to our community?

I would like to reiterate my utmost support to the General Assembly to foster the integration of all members into the EURAMET backbone structures: TCs and EMNs. We must continue the actions aimed at creating an altogether inclusive organisation, so that the majority of members are actively involved in the realisation of different internal projects, preparation of events, delivery of scientific research, etc.
