EURAMET Information Event successfully launched
25 June 2008 in Brussels
EURAMET has successfully launched an Information Event on 25 June 2008 in Brussels together with participants from all different institutions, such as the European Parliament, the European Commission, and Permanent Representations.
The preparation of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) is currently the most important project of EURAMET. The European Commission has identified the EMRP as potential initiative using Article 169 of the EU Treaty to provide additional financial support and is presently preparing the co-decision process of the European Parliament and Council.
With this Information Event, it has been intended to inform about EURAMET as the new-founded European metrology organisation and the key issues of the EMRP.
The renowned speakers have demonstratively explained the important role and use of metrology - the science of measurement - in society and economy. Following the presentations a lively discussion developed sharing the views of the different organisations represented at the Information Event on the EMRP.
