Paul Brewer from NPL is selected as new Chair of the CIPM-CCQM Gas Analysis Working Group
A key challenge facing the semiconductor industry is production loss due to Airborne Molecular Contamination (AMC) in the form of vapours and aerosols, which can corrode metal surfaces and form contamination layers during microscale manufacturing processes. Existing monitoring instrumentation is often deficient.
EMPIR project Metrology for Airborne Molecular Contaminants II (17IND09, MetAMCII) is developing new spectroscopic techniques and reference materials to measure priority AMCs at lower concentrations and faster rates than is currently possible.
Paul Brewer from project partner NPL has been selected to become the fifth Chair of the CIPM-CCQM Gas Analysis Working Group. The CCQM working groups, coordinated by the BIPM, are responsible for developing, improving and documenting the equivalence of national standards for chemical and biological measurements. The Gas Analysis Working Group is one of the largest groups and oversees the comparability of gas analysis measurements between National Metrology Institutes and Designated Institutes worldwide.
