EC calls for expressions of interest to join Partnership Steering Group

Experts can now apply to be appointed as members of the Metrology Partnership Steering Group

The European Commission (EC) is looking for independent experts with an innovative vision and high-level expertise: EC’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation published a Call for Expression of Interest for the selection of eight members of the Steering Group of the European Partnership on Metrology.

The Steering Group will consist of 15 members in total and via this call the EC is aiming to select four representatives from different European Partnerships and four representatives from the European scientific community.

The Steering Group will provide advice to the Metrology Partnership on the emerging priorities for metrology research at European level and on how to increase the impact of its research on European industry, economy and society.

Tasks of the Steering Group will include:

  • identification of emerging technologies, innovations, markets and industrial applications where metrology research and innovation could become relevant in the future;
  • identification of research areas which contribute to the smooth functioning of the internal market and to the Union’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest, including to relevant regulations and standards;
  • advising the Metrology Partnership on priorities for its future work programmes.

The members of the Steering Group will be appointed for a maximum term of 5 years until the end of 2027 and are expected to meet at least twice per year. Members of the Steering Group do not receive remuneration but are entitled to an indemnity for each in-person meeting.

Candidates are invited to send their expression of interest including a CV to RTD-E3-METROLOGY-STEERING-GROUP@ec.europa.eu, indicating to which group, European Partnership or European scientific community they belong to.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday, 27 April 2022 at 12:00 (noon) CEST.

All further details about the Steering Group, selection criteria and application procedure can be found in the 'Call for Expressions of Interest'.

Metrology Partnership

European Partnerships are a key implementation tool of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe; an ambitious research and innovation programme, running from 2021 to 2027.

Key aims of the Metrology Partnership are to support the transition towards a green, climate neutral and digital Europe, as well as to strengthen the resilience, competitiveness, and economic growth of the European industry. Further topics that will be covered include metrology for health, standardisation, fundamental metrology and knowledge transfer and capacity building measures.

The Metrology Partnership is co-funded by the Member States and the European Union with an expected budget of over 650 million euro. Its impact is expected to be manifold, as it will support a wide range of policies, commerce and advancement of key European challenges.
