DC and Quantum Metrology meeting attracts international audience
JT Janssen of NPL (UK) organised and chaired a meeting of the DC and Quantum Metrology subcommittee of EURAMET’s Technical Committee for Electricity and Magnetism (TC-EM). The bi-annual meeting was held from 26 - 29 May 2015 at METAS in Bern, Switzerland. In addition to representatives from many European NMIs, the meeting attracted delegates from China, Australia, USA and Japan.
The three-day meeting was organised around the topics of single electron transport, the AC Josephson effect and graphene. The meeting also served as the dissemination meeting of EMRP project SIB07 'Quantum ampere: Realisation of the new SI ampere', which finished earlier this year. SIB07 aims to develop state-of-the-art single electron transport (SET) devices - known as SET pumps - which generate electric current by moving only one electron at a time. The project will combine these SET pumps with ultrasensitive single electron detectors to create highly-accurate quantum current sources for use as standards.
