One month before the end of the three-year EMPIR project RFMicrowave a highly successful workshop on project outputs was held at TÜBİTAK UME in Turkey

EMPIR Research Potential projects are a special type of EURAMET project designed to  increase measurement capabilities and expertise of emerging EURAMET countries, providing a foundation for effective cooperation on emerging technical challenges in rapidly evolving fields.

The EMPIR Research Potential project ‘Development of RF and microwave metrology capability’ (15RPT01, RFmicrowave) focused on transferring theoretical and practical know-how between the project partners in radio frequency and microwave and electromagnetic compatibility measurements, important to ensure that electronic devices are resistant to external interference.

A workshop in April 2019, marking the end of this three year project , was held at the National Metrology Institute of Turkey, TÜBİTAK UME, which also led the project. Promoting some of the many outputs generated in the project, including achievements from EMC studies, practical measurements on S-parameter and power measurements, it was attended by 53 delegates from organisations such as universities, calibration laboratories and electronic manufacturers.

The outcomes of this project have been vital for reducing the gap between the European countries in terms of metrological capabilities in radio frequency (100 kHz – 300 MHz) and microwave frequency (300 MHz – 300 GHz).

This EMPIR project is co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the EMPIR Participating States.
