New light-detecting instrument on show at CIM 2017

Room temperature operated Predictable Quantum Efficient Detector (PQED)

EURAMET stand at International Metrology Congress will have demonstrations of a room temperature Predictable Quantum Efficient Detector developed in EMRP project

The Predictable Quantum Efficient Detector has been introduced as a detector for accurate radiant flux measurements in the visible wavelength range, and has also been included as one of the methods to quantify the amount of incident optical radiation in the mise en pratique of the candela. EMRP project New primary standards and traceability for radiometry (SIB57 NEWSTAR) improved the understanding of the new type of detector, resulting in the highest level realisations of  radiometric units. Project partners VTT and Aalto (both Finland) developed a Predictable Quantum Efficient Detector (PQED) which operates at room temperature and takes advantage of the excellent spatial uniformity, linearity, and long-term stability of the developed photodiodes.

This instrument and other innovative devices will be demonstrated on the EURAMET stand at the 18th International Metrology Congress (CIM 2017) on the 19 to 21 September 2017.
The full congress programme and registration details can be found on the congress website.
