Graph A shows the first experimental evidence of the thermoelectrical signature of a single magnetic domain wall in a temperature gradient. The signal can be very well described by the anisotropic magneto-Seebeck effect (Graph B)

EMRP project on spintronics and spin-caloritronics assigned Editor’s Suggestions by Physical Review B Rapid Communication

Spintronics is a technology that exploits both the fundamental properties of electrons: elementary electric charge and intrinsic angular momentum (spin), to which a magnetic moment is associated. It has led to the observation of fundamentally new effects such as the spin-Seebeck effect (SSE) and thermally-induced spin injection. Such effects could offer novel device applications for industry and metrology.

EMRP project Spintronics and spin-caloritronics in magnetic nanosystems (EXL04 SpinCal) has made significant advances in building the fundamental understanding of spintronics and spin-caloritronics. A paper on the ‘Domain wall magneto Seebeck effect’ has been published by Physical Review B Rapid Communication, which is devoted to the publication of short papers presenting highly original and significant material. This paper has been assigned the label ‘Editor’s Suggestions’, marking the most relevant papers in the issue.
