Are you keen to broaden your horizons by working abroad – have you considered a Researcher Mobility Grant?

The aim of the Researcher Mobility Grant (RMG) is to increase the capabilities of the European metrology researcher community by enabling mobility between EURAMET Members and Associated Members (National Metrology Institutes and Designated Institutes). 

An RMG provides financial support for a researcher at any stage of their career to undertake research activities relevant to the objectives of a joint research project within the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR).

Although the call for Researcher Mobility Grants will be launched in July 2018, interested parties should act now: Representatives of possible guestworking institutions, institutes willing to send a researcher and interested researchers should contact EURAMET's Capacity Building Officer Tanasko Tasić to discuss potential research topics before 30 April 2018.

Advantages of a Researcher Mobility Grant
The RMG provides a platform for researchers to learn and develop as scientists and be part of the EURAMET community, for the home institutions to improve their capacity in metrology and for the EMPIR project to extend its research objectives. The research must be undertaken at a guestworking organisation, which is an internal funded JRP-Partner located in a different country to the researcher's employer.

Researchers receive reasonable allowances for covering cost of travel and their stay at the host institution.
The duration of a Researcher Mobility Grant is between 1 and 18 months.

Andrea Merlone, INRIM (Italy) and JRP-Coordinator is convinced of the RMGs: "During the projects on metrology for climate, we included five researchers via Researcher Mobility Grants. The RMGs allowed them to gain experience in a new area, work in advanced laboratories and be involved in the project activities. The project benefited from their additional work: more detailed data analysis, high quality modelling and investigating further aspects of theproject's deliverables. It was a very positive experience."
