Open Workshop on Measurement Challenges - SARS-Cov-2 & Future Pandemics

Thursday 4 November, 10:00 - 15:30 CET

Next month, EURAMET's European Metrology Network for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (EMN TraceLabMed) & the Technical Committee for Metrology in Chemistry (TC-MC) will be hosting a joint workshop event.

This workshop invites stakeholders to discuss measurement challenges related to SARS-CoV-2 and other future pandemics. The coronavirus pandemic posed signficant challenges for healthcare systems across the globe, and the importance of metrological tools came to light - including biological standards, reference measurement procedures and reference materials. This event will thus allow stakeholders to come together and present their own research in relevant infectious disease fields, as well as providing metrology institutes with a platform for discussing their ideas.

Open Workshop on Measurement Challenges - Laboratory Medicine

Wednesday 10 November, 10:00 - 15:30 CET

A second joint workshop hosted by the EMN TraceLabMed & TC-MC will take place the following week, this time discussing biochemistry related health topics.

Accurate and comparable measurements are essential for medical decisions, reliable diagnoses, and the translation of advanced therapies into practice. As such, metrology institutions dedicate a significant proportion of their resources to improving measurement comparability and developing reference materials & procedures for the medical field.

This workshop will allow stakeholders and the measurement science community to join forces to discuss metrology challenges facing diagnostic tests, therapeutics, and novel techniques in medicine today.
