Smart Electricity Grids European Metrology Network launches stakeholder survey

Smart electricity grids are becoming an increasingly central focus of European Union Green Deal objectives to secure a sustainable energy future. As flexible, decentralised yet interconnected electricity networks, smart grids hold the potential to increase the reliability and efficiency of electricity supplies, and to optimize our uptake of renewable energy resources.

EURAMET’s European Metrology Network for Smart Electricity Grids (EMN SEG) is working to support these very goals; by becoming the single point of contact across Europe for providing expertise to address measurement challenges associated with smart grids & their implementation.

To hear directly from their stakeholder community, the EMN launched a stakeholder survey. The survey includes parts of the network’s Strategic Research Agenda (SRA), that is under development to provide a high-level strategic view of the measurement capability requirements that could be met by the EMN. By taking part in the survey, stakeholders will have the opportunity to add further measurement needs, to rank measurement challenges that are identified in the draft SRA, and to provide their own overall feedback that will inform the network’s research direction.

Gert Rietveld, chair of the EMN SEG, comments:

“We greatly look forward to receiving stakeholder feedback on our initial Strategic Research Agenda, which we drafted using early stakeholder input. The survey provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to steer future European metrology R&D activities so that they can closely match their measurement needs.”
