Happy World Metrology Day - 20 May 2019

Today, on 20 May, the measurement science community is celebrating World Metrology Day.

This year the event is dedicated to 'The International System of Units - Fundamentally Better'.

In November 2018 the General Conference on Weights and Measures took a historic vote to make the SI units entirely determined by constants of nature. Today, that vote - and the decades of hard work that contributed to it - become reality. Read more about World Metrolgoy Day 2019 >>

Countdown to the SI redefinition - Unit of the month: The kilogram

Accompanying the redefinition of the International System of Units (SI), on the 20th of each month we have been looking at one of the seven SI base units since November 2018.

You'll be able to find out where the units are used in everyday life, how they have been defined, and the changes that came into force on 20 May 2019.
