Calibration of a motorised syringe (single stroke dispenser without valve) - Comparison between the procedure of ISO 8655-6 and the new working document ISO 8655-8

Project Description

In order to validate and evaluate the accuracy and precision of the photometric reference method for volume measurements of piston operated apparatus, described in the draft ISO/CD 8655-8, a comparison study regarding the calibration of a motorised syringe at different volumes between IPQ and Artel was performed. IPQ used the gravimetric method as described in ISO 8655-6:2002.
This work is a cooperation in research between ISO TC 48 and EURAMET TC-Flow as they are liaison organisations. This new standard under development will allow all NMIs of EURAMET and other laboratories in the world to implemented a new calibration method regarding piston operated instruments based on photometry measurements.

The project has been completed and the report can be downlowed here>>

Artel under ISO TC48/WG4 work requested a comparison study regarding the calibration of a motorised syringe at different volumes in order to validate and evaluate the accuracy and precision of the photometric reference method for volume measurements of piston operated apparatus, described in the draft ISO/CD 8655-8, a new standard to be published in 2020.
The results presented for all volumes were satisfactory and the presented uncertainty values are very similar between both laboratories at the lower range, this concluded that the method is suitable for piston operated instruments calibration.
