EURAMET Anniversary Year | eNewsletter Issue 8 | 29 March 2017
In its anniversary year EURAMET is taking a look back at important topics from its history. One of EURAMET's main goals is to ensure that appropriate scientific knowledge and experience in the field of metrology is transferred amongst all EURAMET members across Europe. Learn more about the organisation's work in capacity building and knowledge transfer.
World Meteorological Day was on 23 March. Learn about this year’s topic ‘Understanding Clouds’; how Europe’s measurement community is linked to the weather after all and about the successful international conference on meteorology and climate.
Eighteen participants from 12 EURAMET member countries have successfully completed the first ‘BIPM-EURAMET TC Leadership Course’. The aim of the training course is to allow participants to make personal contributions in their possible future work as Technical Committee Chairs. Significant interest in the BIPM Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer programme from NMIs and DIs in Europe prompted EURAMET to initiate and sponsor the training course.
To improve visibility and readability we have updated our news section on the website.
Find here a selection of latest news from EMRP's and EMPIR's joint research projects:
Reliable classification for the energy efficiency of solid-state lighting
Joint research projects develop an online uncertainty evaluation tool for electrical measurements of solid-state lighting (SSL) products.
Work on the measurement of naturally occurring radionuclides carried out in EMRP project 'Metrology for processing materials with high natural radioactivity' has been recognised at the ICRM-LLRMT 2016, the Low-Level Radioactivity Measurement Techniques conference held by the International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology in Seattle, US.
27 case studies highlight impact from industry projects
Projects within EURAMET's European Metrology Research Programmes actively engage with user communities who will benefit from the research. Examples of the early impact of the first industry projects are highlighted in 2-page case studies on EURAMET's website.
