The European Metrology Network for Climate and Ocean Observation is developing a strategic research agenda to identify priorities for research by Europe’s national metrology institutes and designated institutes and to identify collaboration partners for such research.
The first step of this was to perform a stakeholder needs review, involving a survey of those creating and using observations of essential climate variables (ECVs) and essential ocean variables (EOVs), stakeholder workshops and a review of the literature. A report has been written summarising the identified needs.

The strategic research agenda is now under development. We have also provided an orientation paper for the Call for Needs within the potential European Partnership on Metrology related to the Green Deal.
