Mise en pratique includes contributions from photometry and radiometry projects

EURAMET’s research programmes contribute towards Mise en pratique for the definition of the candela and associated derived units

Last year the Consultative Committee for Photometry and Radiometry (CCPR) of the BIPM published the new revision of the mise en pratique of the candela. This document includes information on the practical realization of units for photometric and radiometric quantities using photon-number-based techniques.

In the section considering detector-based radiometric traceability, a new method based on the predictable quantum efficient detector (PQED) is described. The PQED was developed in iMERA-Plus project Candela: towards quantum-based photon standards (T1.J2.3 qu-candela) and can be used as a primary standard of optical power. In addition, outputs from EMRP project Single-photon sources for quantum technologies (EXL02 SIQUTE) are also featured.

The inclusion of project outputs in the mise en pratique emphasises the important role of the new method for optical power measurements, with EURAMET taking the lead in the field and coordinating the work outside Europe.

The document can be downloaded from the BIPM website.
