STAIR-EMPIR: Joint initiative of CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET continues

The European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research, EMPIR, will launch a further call for proposals on pre- and co-normative research projects in 2016. To ensure the CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET co-operation on EMPIR projects, a dedicated group, STAIR-EMPIR, was created in 2014. STAIR stands for Standardisation, Innovation and Research.

The 2nd STAIR-EMPIR Meeting will take place on Thursday, 17 December 2015 at the CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre in Brussels, Belgium. Participants at this meeting are invited to present and discuss ideas for the 2016 call and explore related opportunities for co-operation between the standardisation and metrology communities.

CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET have had a mutually beneficial cooperation for several years. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) together with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), are the officially recognised European Standardisation Organisations.

STAIR-EMPIR is open to all interested parties, whether they come from the standardisation or metrology communities. EURAMET would especially like to encourage technical experts from National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) to participate in the meeting.

Topics include information on the upcoming EMPIR Call, an example of a selected normative EMPIR project, information from the EURAMET Task Groups Energy and Environment on their ideas for the 2016 normative call and examples of research needs proposed by standardisation groups.

For more information and to register, please send an e-mail to research@cencenelec.eu
Deadline for registration is 9 December 2015.

To invite any standardisation Technical Committees that might be interest in further collaboration with NMIs and DIs, please send an e-mail to eveline.domini@lne.fr
