The measurement of mass is probably the most commonly made measurement for trade, industry and scientific research purposes. 

The Technical Committee of Mass and Related Quantities (TC-M) is concerned with measurement issues in technical areas which include: 

  • Mass
  • Pressure 
  • Force
  • Torque
  • Hardness
  • Density
  • Viscosity
  • Gravimetry
  • Dynamic Mechanical Measurements 

These measurement areas in turn support a wide range of industries including power generation, oil and gas, aerospace and automotive, healthcare and pharmaceutical. Additionally, areas such as small mass and low force are having impact in areas such as bio- and nano-technology, micro-fabrication and medicine.
