Objectives and Scope of the TCs

The TCs are the forum for scientific and technical cooperation in the respective fields.

The types of cooperation are:

a) Cooperation in research
b) Comparison in measurement standards
c) Traceability
d) Consultation on facilities

In particular, the TCs contribute to the elaboration and execution of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP), according to the rules established by the EMRP-Committee.

The TCs are responsible for the execution of the activities required by EURAMET as Regional Metrology Organisation (RMO) for the fulfilment of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM-MRA). In particular, this comprises:

a) Intra-RMO review and submission of the Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMCs) of EURAMET Members and Associates

b) Inter-RMO review of CMCs of other RMOs

c) Proposal of RMO Key and Supplementary Comparisons and support of their conduct

d) In the case of TC-Q, review and providing formal acknowledgement of the Quality Systems of EURAMET Members and Associates

e) In the case of TC-IM, development of a EURAMET position regarding issues related to the CIPM-MRA

Organisation and Composition of the TCs

The Delegate of a EURAMET Member or Associates (Corresponding Applicants and IRMM) may appoint a Contact Persons to each TC (one Contact Persons per country). A Contact Person shall be an employee of a Member or Associate of EURAMET who is technically competent in the respective field. The same person may be Contact Person in more than one TC.

Corresponding NMIs may participate in the TCs as observer on invitation of the TC Chair.

The TCs generally meet once a year.

The work of a TC is coordinated by a chairperson, who is elected by the General Assembly.

Sub-Committees

Some of the TCs have established Sub-Committees (SC), which deal with specific issues of the TC´s working field. The Contact Persons to a SC may be the TC Contact Person or another person appointed by him or her.

The work of the SCs is coordinated by a Convenor, who is proposed by the TC and appointed by the EURAMET Chairperson.
