Focus Topic: Metrology for Energy
In times of scarce resources, increasing energy needs and climate change, one of Europe's Grand Challenges is Energy. With an aim to establish the measurement infrastructure necessary to support Europe's sustainable energy goals, EURAMET's European Metrology Research Programmes launched calls in 2009, 2013 and 2016 for projects in this field. For further insight into this topic see the interview with Gert Rietveld, Convenor of the EURAMET Task Group on "Metrology for Energy", as well as the impact report and case studies on the Metrology for Energy 2009 projects. Overviews of all the EMRP Energy projects can be found here.
Measurements in a Dynamic World
Celebrate Metrology on World Metrology Day (20 May 2016). This year's topic reflects the challenge of accurately measuring dynamic quantities and the rapid pace of change in measurement science. read more>>

The ozone layer protects humans from the adverse effects of ultraviolet radiation. Careful long-term monitoring of the ozone layer remains crucial to verifying the success of the Montreal Protocol, which regulates against destructive chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Two main typ...
Faster, smaller and more energy efficient computing, based on miniature electronic devices, will benefit almost every industrial sector. Recently, materials such as piezoelectrics have been used to develop miniature electronics by allowing the control of properties at the na...
